The Rain in Brisbane…

…stays mainly EVERYWHERE!

I’ve been down under for about two and a half weeks now, and I’m just finally starting to see some sunlight for more than a few minutes at a time. Who knew it rained here so much?

oh look, more rain!

I’m actually here because Mr. Engineer was sent here for work rather last-minute, so we decided to make the most of it and I got to tag along. The city is incredibly pedestrian-friendly, so I’ve spent lots of time wandering around, exploring, reading, and trying not to look like too much of a tourist. I have yet to hit any of the super-cool spots yet (koala sanctuary! Gold Coast!) because up until now it’s been thunderstorm central every weekend. Since this coming weekend is our last here, however, we decided rain or shine, we’re holding some koalas and going to to beach, dammit!

I’ve also been sticking to my pledge to log over at DailyMile (although last week was only 17 miles…GAH!) and I’m definitely struggling with the ever-increasing heat here. (December is the start of summer here, so it’s only going to keep getting warmer.) I really, REALLY, hate/suck at running in the heat SO much. Obviously I need to get over this, but MAN do I struggle. I know a year ago at this time I was almost certainly complaining about how many layers I needed to pile on to run outside, but man what I wouldn’t give to be cold again. (Also, how in the world is it supposed to feel like Christmas when it’s almost 90 degrees outside? BOGUS.)

For your entertainment, here are a few shots from Mr. Engineer’s company Christmas party this weekend, which was wild west-themed. I continue to be amused by the fact that even though I’ve been living in Texas, I had to come all the way to Australia to bust out a cowboy hat.

obviously we had to ride the horse.

the mr! he's pretty cute : )

Happy running.
